Bayer CropScience becomes an agri benchmark Partner ...
In March, Bayer CropScience signed a cooperation agreement with the DLG, the managing partner in agri benchmark. Bayer CropScience is one of the world’s leading innovative crop science companies in the areas of seeds, crop protection and non-agricultural pest control.

The agreement is valid for an initial period of three years, a long-term cooperation is envisaged.

Three new agri benchmark team members in Braunschweig
In recent months, Bernhard Liese, Dessy Anggraeni and Barbara Wildegger have joined the agri benchmark team.
Bernhard is PhD candidate with an agri benchmark scholarship and will work on topics and projects within the rice network.
Dessy just finished her master thesis with the title “Rice Price Volatility Measurement in Indonesia using GARCH and GARCH-X Approach” and will manage network developments and expansions.
Barbara has already been working in the Beef and Sheep Network for one year and will support the Cash Crop team by strengthening the network´s PR activities.

EU CAP reform – burden on growers from new „greening“ requirements
sunflower “Greening” can cost around 10 to 100 € per hectare, depending on the general intensity of management of the farm. In general, short crop rotation with a high percentage of corn leads in general to the highest costs for “Greening”. Thomas de Witte is one of the authors of a study that calculates the effect for five typical farms in Germany.

South-East Asian Rice Production
cultivated rice Rice is the most important crop grown in Southeast Asia. As there is a lack of reliable and comparable data, the FAO commissioned agri benchmark to support and establish a Southeast Asia network on economics of rice production. There are big differences between the countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) and the farms regarding the operating costs.
