EU CAP reform – burden on growers from new „greening“ requirements

“Greening” can cost around 10 to 100 € per hectare, depending on the general intensity of management of the farm. In general, short crop rotation with a high percentage of corn leads in general to the highest costs for “Greening”. Thomas de Witte is one of the authors of a study that calculates the effect for five typical farms in Germany.

South-East Asian Rice Production

Rice is the most important crop grown in Southeast Asia. As there is a lack of reliable and comparable data, the FAO commissioned agri benchmark to support and establish a Southeast Asia network on economics of rice production. There are big differences between the countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) and the farms regarding the operating costs.
