agri benchmark Academy 2025: First Edition Completed Successfully

The first agri benchmark Academy took place from 10–14 February 2025 in Hanover, Germany. It brought together over 30 young professionals from the pig sector for a compact and practice-oriented training week on international pig production and economics.

The Academy focused on:

  • Comparative economics of pig farms across countries
  • Farm data analysis and benchmarking methods
  • Animal welfare, sustainability, and the economics of future production standards
  • Introduction to the Practice Change Analysis Tool, using real farm data

The event included lectures from international experts, hands-on sessions using participants’ own data, and two field visits:

  • A modern feed mill and integrated pig farm
  • A guided tour of the Tönnies slaughterhouse in Rheda-Wiedenbrück

Participants presented their own farms or national systems and actively contributed to data-based comparisons. The week closed with a group analysis of economic outcomes and the impact of practical changes on farm-level profitability.

The Academy was developed and delivered by the agri benchmark team and supported by selected contributors from research and industry.
